A
Anandamide - A cannabinoid that the body naturally makes on its own. Located in the brain, Anandamide is a neurotransmitter that binds to cannabinoid receptors. Comes from the Sanskrit word "ananda" which means joy or bliss. Commonly referred to as the bodies bliss chemical.
B
Big 6 - The 6 most researched cannabinoids (CBD, CBC, CBN, CBG, THC, THCV.) There are over 460 known chemical compounds of the cannabis plant.
Bioavailable - Refers to the rate and the extent at which the oil administered reaches its point.
C
Cannabinoids - A group of closely related compounds that include cannabinol and the active constituents of cannabis.
CBC - (Cannabichromene) - Discovered over 50 years ago, CBC is considered one of the “big six” cannabinoids prominent in medical research. The second most abundant cannabinoid in drug-type, synthetic, cannabis. Cannabichromene is evaluated for being anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.
CBD - (Cannabidiol) - Cannabidiol is one of at least 113 cannabinoids identified in cannabis. It is a major phytocannabinoid, accounting for up to 40% of the plant's extract. Anti-inflammatory, anti-epileptic, anti-proliferative, anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-biotic, analgesic, anti-anxiety. Promotes bone health, skin health, eye health and so much more.
CBDV - (Cannabidivarian) - Anti-convulsant. This powerful phytocannabinoid is actively being developed and produced synthetically by GW Pharmaceuticals. "shown the ability to treat seizures in pre-clinical models of epilepsy with significantly fewer side effects than currently approved anti-epileptic drugs." Also known to reduce inflammation and treat neurological disorders.
CBG - (Cannabigerol) - THC and CBD start out as CBG—it’s the chemical parent of THC and CBD. It all starts with CBG. Research has shown CBG effective in treating Glaucoma, reducing intraoccqular pressure as a vasodilator and is neuroprotective.
CBGA- (Cannabigerol Acid) - The stem cell cannabinoid as it all starts here. CBGA is a building block for all other cannabinoids and is mostly researched for its role in the biosynthesis of other cannabinoids. CBGA encourages apoptosis or programmed cell death.
CBN - (Cannabinol) - CBN’s most pronounced attribute is its sedative property. A great choice as a pain reliever, it is also antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, stimulates bone growth and healing. Anti-insomnia, anti-bacterial, promotes appetite, stimulates bone growth.
CB1 Receptors - Cannabinoid receptors located in the brain.
CB2 Receptors - Cannabinoid receptors that modulate the immune system.
Certificate of analysis (COA) - An analysis of the CBD product completed by a third party lab. This full panel of testing includes; Cannabinoids, Residual Solvents, Heavy Metals, Pesticides and Microbial Analysis. Every batch is quarantined and tested before being released. The COA can be seen on the product page.
D
D-Limonene - A (terpene) compound naturally found in all citrus fruits, which may be used to prevent cancer, boost your metabolism, relieve heartburn, and reduce stress and anxiety without the side effects of prescription drugs. My Hemp Benefits uses D-Limonene terpenes for its pleasant citrus taste and its health benefits such as anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-oxidant, anti-carcinogenic and liver healthy.
E
Endocannabinoid - Endocannabinoids are molecules that are naturally produced by cells in the human body. These molecules bind to or activate cannabinoid receptors in the same way that cannabis does, whether it is THC or CBD. "Endo" means "within", as within the body our cells naturally produce endocannabinoids.
Endogenous Cannabinoid System or E.C.S. - A system of receptors in all humans and animals. When endocannabinoids bind to or stimulate these receptors, our immune, endocrine and nervous systems can now communicate with themselves and work together to achieve homeostasis or balance in the body.
Entourage effect - Different compounds have their own therapeutic benefit, and they combine synergistically to provide a far better performance than any single compound, including CBD. All of the plants extracted cannabinoids, flavanoids and terpenoids are all working together with each other and has a better overall value to the body as a result.
Essential Fatty Acids - Fatty acids that humans and animals must ingest for optimal health that the body cannot synthesize. (Also see Omega 3's)
F
Farm Bill Act of 2014 Section 7606 - A state pilot program that allowed farmers to plant and cultivate hemp that does not contain more that 0.3% THC.
Full Spectrum - Whole plant CBD which contains all other cannabinoids present in the h.e.m.p plant including CBN (Cannabinol), CBG (Cannabigerol), and THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin), to name a few, during the extraction. A full spectrum CBD oil has different cannabinoids, flavanoids and terpenoids from extraction.
H
Hemp - A variety of the Cannabis Sativa plant. The hemp plant has been used for thousands of years, medicinally for healing and also industrially for textiles, paper and plastic. A hemp plant grows with minimal trace amounts of THC, is legal in all 50 states and has been used on our planet for thousands of years.
Hemp Farming Act of 2018 - A proposed law to remove HEMP from Schedule 1 controlled substance abuse list and making it once again an agricultural commodity.
Homeostasis - A property of cells, tissues, and organisms that allows the maintenance and regulation of the stability and constancy needed to function properly. Our bodies are created to heal and achieve a state of balance, or homeostasis, within the body. CBD oil allows your body to communicate with itself to achieve homeostasis.
I
Isolate - Simply purified CBD that has been extracted from the hemp plant and isolated from the other cannabinoids. It is separated form the plants other naturally occurring canna.binoids, terpenoids and flavanoids.
M
Marijuana - A psychoactive variety of the Cannabis plant.
N
Nano - Nano enhanced, nano technology, or nano sized it refers to the size of the actual CBD oil particle. A nano sized oil is beneficial because it is quickly bioavailable to the body and crosses the blood brain barrier.
Neurogenesis - The generation of new neurons in the hippocampus area of the brain.
Neuroprotective - Effects that may result in salvage, recovery or regeneration of the nervous system, its cells, structure and function. The U.S. government currently holds a patent recognizing cannabis as neuroprotective.
O
Omega 3's - Fatty acids found in protein necessary for great health, found in plants and nuts. Hemp seeds have the complete balance of Omega's 3:6:9.
P
Phytocannabinoid - Cannabinoids that are naturally occurring in the cannabis plant.
Phytoremediation - Plants that remove harmful chemicals and toxins from soil.
S
Sublingual administration - Pharmacological route of administering CBD oil by which substances diffuse into the blood through tissues under the tongue.
Supercritical CO2 Extraction - The cleanest and preferred method of extraction in the medical cannabis and therapeutic h.e.m.p industries, free of alcohol and solvents.
T
Terpene - Fragrant essential oils secreted from the resin gland of the plant. When you smell a flower or a lemon, you are smelling the plants terpenes.
THC - (tetrahydrocannabinol) - THC is one of the 113 chemical compounds found only in the Cannabis plant, called phytocannabinoids. THC however, is unique among all the rest for one, massively important reason: it’s the most potently psychoactive. THC has many health benefits and if required, should be used under the care of a licensed medical marijuana doctor, because a medical marijuana ID card is required.
THCV - (tetrahydrcannabivarin) - A compound in canna.bis that offers a unique array of effects and medical benefits that sets it apart from other cannabinoids like THC and CBD. THCV is the raw form of THC before it becomes heated or decarboxylated.
Tincture - The form of the CBD remedy. Traditionally the term tincture refers to products that were alcohol based. Currently, it is being used for oil based products.
Trichrome - Fine outergrowth or hair on the plant.

Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants
Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This newly-found property makes them useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of a wide variety of oxidation-associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. They are also found to have particular applications as neuroprotectants. For example, cannabidiol for anxiety disorder and in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and HIV dementia. Non Psychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol found in CBD hemp seed oil, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention. A particular disclosed class of cannabinoids useful as neuroprotective antioxidants is formula (I), wherein the R group is independently selected from the group consisting of H, CH.sub.3, and COCH.sub.3. ##STR1##
