Traveling with CBD

Traveling with CBD

Summer is here and with it comes longer sunnier days, fireworks and families traveling, via plane and train. In these confusing times of cannabis that we live in, what are we supposed to do when we are packing our bags for our family vacation. If you have recently heard that the TSA allows people to travel with CBD oil and marijuana, listen carefully as it is only pertains to doctor prescribed cannabis in states where medical cannabis is legal. When it comes to cannabis always do your research as this is an ever changing industry.

Check it in your bag and keep the COA with it, better safe than sorry. If you are packing it in a carry on, well then you may be taking a risk. It is unfortunate, but not everyone knows all the rules and we are dealing with something that is state and federal.

So what does the TSA say about traveling with CBD oil anyway? All CBD being taken through security must be compliant with the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, according to the TSA website. It is very clear, and it is straight from the source. Did you notice the warning at the bottom of the page?

"The final decision rests with the TSA officer on whether an item is allowed through the checkpoint."

Ultimately, it is just that, up to the person checking you in. Totally unfair to be at the disposal of the individual in front of you, who may or may not let you pass based on their knowledge of the state laws and at the very least, some cannabis basics. After all, not all products are created equal and hemp extracted cannabis is LEGAL in all 50 states.

Investigate the laws before you leave and eliminate any surprises. Happy travels!!
