CBD & Eye Health

CBD & Eye Health

Research, while still in its early stages, is very promising. For many years, people have been using cannabis successfully for glaucoma. Because of this, the research has begun for CBD and eye health. Although glaucoma is hereditary, eye health does deteriorate with age. It is only natural to want to slow down the aging process, especially age related vision loss.

Currently, researchers are studying cataracts and CBD. A patient having cataract surgery could potentially benefit from using CBD oil, before surgery for calming nerves and anxiety and after surgery for healing and recovery. Let’s keep in mind that CBD is a potent anti-inflammatory agent and quite possibly the enemy of inflammation, even for our eyes.

Finally, let’s not forget about the endocannabinoid system that all humans have from head to toe. This system of receptors are found in the brain as well as throughout the body, when activated, it reduces pain throughout the body, at the peripheral level as well. Corneal cells express CB1 and CB2 receptors, could CBD stimulate these receptors?

As always, please consult your doctor. This post is for educational purposes and is in no way meant to treat or diagnose. It is up to you, to do your research.
