Autism Awareness

ASD is a severe neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by repetitive, stereotyped behavior, impairment in communication and social interaction in children. A diagnosis usually takes place by 3 years of age. The cause of autism is not fully understood, however, it is thought that genetics, environment and auto-immune function may play a role in its development.

In 2018 the CDC determined that approximately 1 in 59 children is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

1 in 37 boys & 1 in 151 girls. Please visit autismspeaks.org to learn more facts about ASD.

A study published in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders evaluated the feasibility of using CBD-rich cannabis as a medical treatment for children with autism. It was the first study to scientifically evaluate the effect of cannabis for ASD. The results were so promising that the researchers are planning a follow-up study with almost double the number of participants. The follow-up study will further explore the potential of cannabis to treat children with severe, ASD related behavior problems. The researchers were careful to conclude that, although they are optimistic about their results, further controlled, clinical trials with higher numbers of participants are needed before doctors can prescribe cannabis or CBD for the treatment of ASD.

Protect your brain. The best and number one reason to use CBD oil. The neuroprotective benefit of using CBD oil means that CBD aides in neurogenesis; the generation of new neurons in the hippocampus area of the brain. Although THC binds directly to receptors in the brain, which is why people feel "high' when using THC, CBD actually stimulates these receptors in the brain without any psycho-active feelings. As a parent, it can be very confusing in an ever changing cannabis friendly world, of what to do. Talk to your doctor, but first do your own research, so that you are prepared for the conversation. When used under parental supervision, hemp derived CBD can be an excellent option for parents and families that would like to take a more natural approach to their child's health. CBD is anti-inflammatory and ASD is known for neuroinflammation so it makes perfect sense to give CBD a try, without fear of overdose and dependency.
